Modi's guarantee vs Nyay Patra

On April 14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 'Sankalp Patra' manifesto for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections. The BJP aims to secure a third term under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and has set a target of winning 370 seats for the party, and 400 seats for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). On the other hand, the Congress party, which released its manifesto on April 5, is contesting the upcoming election as part of the Opposition's INDIA, challenging the BJP's rule.

Here is a comparison of the election manifestos of both parties.  

1-Modi's Guarantee Vs Nyay pillars

BJP

"Modi Ki Guaranteeis the BJP's manifesto for the 2024 elections. The manifesto focuses on the party's commitment to the development of women, youth, the underprivileged, and farmers. It includes 14 promises aimed at creating a better future for all citizens and fostering an inclusive society.

Congress

The Congress party's 'Nyay Patra' manifesto draws inspiration from Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodi Nyay Yatra. It aims to address five pillars of justice, including Yuva Nyay, Naari Nyay, Kisaan Nyay, Shramik Nyay, and Hissedari Nyay. The manifesto has 25 guarantees under these pillars to ensure justice for all.

2- Targeting Young Voters 

BJP

-The government is taking a strong stance against paper leaks and is dedicated to implementing rigorous measures to prevent them from happening in the future.

- The government aims to work to fill all its vacancies within a specific timeframe to ensure efficient functioning.

- The government is determined to create a thriving ecosystem to make India a preferred destination for startups.

- To increase job prospects in this industry, the government is concentrating on turning India into a worldwide center of manufacturing.  

- The government aims to support aspiring entrepreneurs by expanding credit programs like Mudra, with the Mudra loan limit set to be doubled up to ₹20 lahks.

Congress 

-will address the unemployment problem with a clear Yuva Nyay program.

-A new law known as the Right to Apprenticeship Act would grant all diploma holders and recent college graduates under the age of 25 a one-year apprenticeship with a commercial or public sector enterprise.

-will occupy around 30 lakh authorized positions at different levels within the national government.

3- Senior Citizens 

BJP

- Seniors over 70 will be covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana

- Convenient senior pilgrimage facilities provided by the state government.

Congress 

-Shall uphold the 2016 Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act scrupulously.

-Will increase the monthly contribution to pensions under the National Social Assistance Programme to ₹1,000 for widows, elderly people, and people with disabilities.

-Will restore senior citizen travel discounts on public transit ( train and road).

4- Farmers Vote Bank

Both political farmers made promises to farmers, another important constituency, just like in their previous manifestos.

BJP

To expedite the evaluation, disbursement, and redress of grievances, the government intends to support PM Fasal Bima Yojana using cutting-edge technologies. Farmers will benefit from prompt and effective support as a result.

-will periodically keep raising the MSP.

Congress

should establish a Permanent Commission on Agricultural Finance, which will provide periodic reports on the availability of agricultural credit and the need for loan forbearance. Congress should also guarantee the legality of the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) that the government announces each year, by the recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission.

5- Women Voters

In 2024, 96.8 crore Indians will be eligible to vote. Of them, 47.1 crore are women, 49.7 crore are men, and 48,000 are transgender people. The future of the parties will be largely determined by the female voter base.

BJP

-Will now empower 3 crore rural women to become ‘Lakhpati Didi. 

Will increase the availability of current health services aimed at 

preventing and treating osteoporosis, breast cancer, cervical cancer, and anemia, thereby assuring a healthy life for women. We're going to start a targeted campaign to end cervical cancer.

-We will systematically implement the Women's Reservation Bill to ensure representation for women in the Parliament and State Legislatures

Congress

Agree to introduce the Mahalakshmi plan, which will give every impoverished Indian family an unconditional ₹1 lakh annual cash transfer in 2025, 

half (50%) of central government positions will be reserved for women in at least one Savitribai Phule Hostel in every district, and the number of working women's hostels in the nation will be doubled.

6- Health for all

Following the COVID-19 epidemic, health became an even more crucial 

poll topic. In its manifesto, the BJP emphasizes how it handled the crisis, while the Congress promises insurance modeled after its model for the state of Rajasthan.

BJP

-Will strengthen our network of AIIMS to provide quality healthcare across the country.

Expand PM-ABHIM for robust healthcare-

-Will expand the Jan Aushadhi Kendra network to provide high-quality low-cost medicines to citizens across the country.

Congress

-The Rajasthan Model of cashless insurance up to ₹25 lakhs will be adopted for universal healthcare.

-Promise that healthcare will be universal and free in public health centers such as hospitals, clinics, primary health centers, mobile healthcare units, dispensaries, and health camps. Free healthcare will include examination, diagnostics, treatment, surgery, medicines, rehabilitation and palliative care

-Budget allocation for Health will be increased step by step every year to achieve 4 percent of total expenditure by 2028-29.

7-Indian Economy

The BJP promises to make India 3rd largest Economy. and the Congress promises to double the country's GDP in the next ten years. 

BJP

-We guarantee that India will be the 3rd largest economic power.

-We will continue to demonstrate low inflation and stay committed to India's economic prowess

-We are committed to increasing employment, self-employment, and enhancement of livelihood opportunities for citizens.

- Will honor taxpayers who have played an important role in strengthening our economy.

Congress

-Have set a target of doubling the GDP in the next 10 years.

-Make a law to specify and protect the rights of gig workers and unorganized workers and enhance their social security.

-Will support free trade and rule-based international trade and commerce.

-Will reorient the tax policies towards employment and wages as well as investments and profits.
