'Result' - Film Review

'Result' - Film Review

A representation of millions of minds and hearts has struck again. In India, the hidden stories of the journey of many fields of work have been trodden upon. UPSC aspirants are one of those whose tedious path is discussed and shown, and 'success rate' is the most critical factor.

Showing this journey through a short film is yet another task, and this one-of-a-kind expedition is terrifically conveyed in Shantanu Morankar's 'Result'. Beginning with the title, Morankar's intentions aim towards the 'Result' upon which each student and their loved ones are fixated. Not only that, we see the number of attempts and clearing of rounds, the frustration, often depression, and the competition that comes with it is what makes these exams the most difficult ones in the entire nation-state.

'Result' is the story of Adwait, a UPSC exam aspirant making ends meet regarding exams and living. The film itself opens up by establishing his conflicts, fears, and reasonable insecurities. Out of millions of stories, the film chooses to tell a standout, Adwait holding back not only because of his shortcomings but also because of the effect of other things going on and around him. He is trying to juggle all of this, which is his greatest strength, along with the film.

The winner of the film is that the creators successfully make us 'feel' what Adwait is feeling. His dilemma of choosing to try over and over again for the dream he and his family saw together and all the sweat and toil, money, energy, and mainly the hopes that are invested are seen and felt throughout. The film is about hope. The hope is to rise and try again. There is a ray of hope in the morning after a dark night.

Omkar Jadhav has given absolute justice to Aniket Gosavi's skilful camera work and light play, terrifically placed in by Rohan Kajbaje's editing to add the perfect highs and lows to the story's projection. The film completes itself with the perfectly set up ambience of Adwait's whereabouts, his room decorated with nothing but maps, notes, calendars, and motivational quotes.

A film is said to be the union of every little aspect of directing, acting, cinematography, editing, and so much more. Little droplets come together to form an ocean. And 'Result' is the model's reflection.
