Baba Siddique shot dead!
Mumbai: Senior Nationalist Congress Party leader and Former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique died in the hospital after being shot by three individuals. The incident took place near his dead son’s office in Mumbai Bandra on October 12.
The firing occurred outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office near Colgate ground in Nirmal Nagar. Six shots were fired at Baba Siddique at around 9:30 pm by three individuals. Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the firing. One is from Uttar Pradesh and the other is from Haryana, while a third accused fled from the spot.
Various politicians are expressing their grief.
Who was Baba Siddique?
Ziauddin Siddique, also known as Baba Siddique was a 66-year-old political leader. He was a member of the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP Along with politics, Siddique was well-known for his socialite image and hosting grand iftar parties every year. He also served as Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies, Labour and FDA. Siddique was a three-term MLA from Mumbai's Bandra West assembly constituency. Though Baba Siddique remained a prominent face in Mumbai politics, he faced a major setback in 2014. He lost the seat to Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Ashish Shelar in the 2014 assembly polls. Along with politics, Siddique was known for his socialite image and for hosting grand iftar parties every year.
Despite this loss, Siddique remained active in public life, working behind the scenes within the Congress party and continuing his involvement in social causes.
